OUR STORY
A Boutique Inn, cared for like a home.
Dan, Jenny & Matt Showalter welcome you to Kincardine and to our Boutique Inn. As Innkeepers in Kincardine since 1989, we have always enjoyed being part of Visitor's experience as you explore this unique area.
Dan worked at Bruce Power (then Ontario Hydro) for 12 years, before him and Jenny saw an opportunity to purchase the site on Highway 21, which became the Governor's Inn in 1989. It was after 17 years with Ontario Hydro that Dan made the transition to the Hotel full-time.
It was later branded as Best Western in 1996. With that came 60 rooms, Restaurant and Banquet/Conference facilities. We prided ourselves on offering quality through our services, rooms & events and being part of the guest experience was truly our reward each day.
Dan & Jenny, along with Chris, Jolyn, Mark & Matt, have all been part of the business over the 30 + years of being in this exciting industry. Dan & Jenny sold Best Western in the mid 2000's, before coming across the opportunity to own the Harbour Motor Inn, a 9-room Motel on the site that we are now situated. We fully renovated the Motel and welcomed Visitors to our new offering, when the building next door - The Chandlery - a brick 3-storey building came for sale. It was then that Dan & Jenny saw more potential in this site and the ability to expand our accommodation offering.
Fast forward 15 years, Inn at the Harbour offers 30 rooms with lakeview balconies, with a variety of different room options. New Atrium & updated Lobby, we are looking to the future in how we can bring even more to our Guests. From our location, visitors can experience the beauty and tranquility of Kincardine, with everything that's important on a getaway just steps from our location.
Plans to expand further on Harbour Street for our Inn are currently underway. We see exciting growth in our Downtown community and Tourism as a whole in our area - Kincardine is just getting started as being the Destination for Ontario. A new generation of inspired merchants, artisans & professionals are making big waves here, as they usher in a new era for Kincardine.
